In an effort to add verisimilitude to a script, a screenwriter indicates the actor speak with his mouth full of food at the breakfast table while his wife fiddles around with a coffeemaker. I am watching this movie and suddenly the character speaks with his mouth filled with food... I cannot understand what he is saying, and this irritates me mightily. I concentrate on his garbled speech and lose the scene's meaning.
That same movie features background music that is both inappropriate to the scene, too loud, and unnecessary.
