“It does not matter how long you are spending on the earth, how much money you have gathered or how much attention you have received. It is the amount of positive vibration you have radiated in life that matters.”
--Amit Ray

At a blog you have probably never heard of(Sam Harris's Blog) I encountered some intriguing bits of information in an article titled Taming the Mind A Conversation with Dan Harris -- It presents a surprisingly different picture of Yoga, Meditation, and other things from Eastern philosophy I have usually discounted as being worthless.

Dan Harris is a co-anchor of Nightline and the weekend edition of Good Morning America on ABC News. He has reported from all over the world, covering wars in Afghanistan, Israel/Palestine, and Iraq, and producing investigative reports in Haiti, Cambodia, and the Congo. He has also spent many years covering religion in America, despite the fact that he is agnostic. Dan’s new book, 10 Percent Happier: 'How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Actually Works -- A True Story,' hit #1 on the New York Times best-seller list.

2.  To plan in the mind; intend: meditated a visit to her daughter.
3.
  a.  Buddhism & Hinduism To train, calm, or empty the mind, often by achieving an altered state, as by focusing on a single object.
  b.  To engage in devotional contemplation, especially prayer.

There may be more to this meditation crap than I had previously considered.

But, then again, there may not be.

Oh yes . . . I am scheduled to return to my apartment in Tucson this afternoon.

On April 15, 1947, Jackie Robinson became the first African-American in the major leagues when he played his first game with the Brooklyn Dodgers. During his first season in the majors, Robinson encountered racism from opposing teams and fans, as well as some of his own teammates. However, the abuse didn’t affect his performance on the baseball field. Robinson played in 151 games, hit .297, stole more bases than anyone else in the National League.

Robinson became the first African-American inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962, his first year of eligibility. On October 24, 1972, he died at age 53 from heart problems.

In 1997, on the 50th anniversary of his historic first game in the majors, Robinson’s uniform number-- 42 --was retired by Major League Baseball.

I don't fool myself with Woo Woo Nonsense.

Sam Harris says, "The trick, however, is not to spend one’s time lost in thought."

Why lost? My mind is in no way damaged by the process of thinking (by the nature of certain thoughts, perhaps, but not by the process itself). My brain performs its function quite well, including the production of my urge to create.

Crap is in this case an apt description of most discussions regarding the essence of Woo Woo.
