I swas treated to a story today on CNN claiming that archeologists have recently uncovered the biblical city of Magdala, which was supposedly the city which was the hometown of Mary Magdalene. The CNN story also referred to Mary of Magdala as being the most influential woman portrayed in the New Testament, as she was named as being the first to find the tomb of Jesus empty.
That make here influential?
Ancient Magdala is famous in Christian tradition for being the city from which Mary “Magdalene” came. Mary Magdalene is mentioned for the first time in Luke 8:1-2 as a woman "from whom seven demons had come out".
