Nothing Much . . .

* * * ATTENTION! * * * ATTENTION! * * *

God did not create the universe

God did not create the universe, the man who is arguably Britain's most famous living scientist says in a forthcoming book.

In the new work, The Grand Design, Professor Stephen Hawking argues that the Big Bang, rather than occurring following the intervention of a divine being, was inevitable due to the law of gravity.

How about that?

The Reference Frame has more about this.

Sneaky Little Things To Watch Out For

Circle-K displayed huge signs on and around their Potato Chips department proclaiming a sale on Cheddar & Sour Cream flavored Ruffles, 2 for $6 but at the cash register, when I objected to my too-high total, I was told that I must buy two bags to get that price. If you buy only one bag, the price is not $3 (one-half of the 2 for $6) as is the case in most stores, but instead is $3.98, which is the non-discounted, usual price.

After complaining about this to a friend, I was asked, "Well, why don't you buy your food at a reputable supermarket instead of that gyp-joint?"

Which is exactly what I intend to do.

According to Wikipedia Phillis Wheatley was the first notable African poet in America and the first African-American woman whose writings were published. Born in Gambia or Senegal, she was enslaved at age eight. She was purchased by the Wheatley family of Boston, who taught her to read and write, and helped encourage her poetry.

Some of Phillis Wheatley's poems can be read online --

Poems on Various Subjects Religious and Moral written by Philis Wheatley (former American slave) 1753-1784

I did not particularly like most of the poems by Phillis Wheatley, but some of her chosen words and phrases evoked strong images in my imagination. Some of those image-words and phrases are --

silken fetters all the senses bind, And soft captivity...

Sometimes a picture says it all . . .

The casual reader of this blog might well be self-persuaded that the blog's author is a bit addled, or even completely out of his ever-loving mind. Well...

If I agreed with you we'd both be wrong.
